Through these works, we explore diverse perspectives and artistic expressions that illuminate the intricate relationship between art and the quest for identity within the African diaspora Drawing from Bell Hooks, we emphasize the power of art to authentically engage with the complexities of identity rather than the singularity of ‘being black’. The Starving Artist aims to encourage reflection on the profound impact of belonging and identity formation through the lived-in experiences of artists to examine more in-depth what it means to navigate African diasporic identity in the 21st century.

This exhibition delves into struggles with an Eating Disordered body, highlighting the connection to my menstrual experience. Through sharing intimate menstrual issues, the art sheds light on the diverse impacts of Eating Disorders. Themes of vulnerability, adaptation with amenorrhea, cultural experiences and resistance against the menstruating female body are explored. Audiences can learn from my experience and gain insight into the complexities of eating disorders.

Journeys Festival International | Leicester, Manchester, Berlin & Portsmouth | 2021
The 'Journeys Festival International' curates, presents, and commissions a diverse program of artwork that delves into personal experiences following the pandemic, engaging audiences through artistic and creative encounters. In a unique collaboration, the festivals in Leicester, Manchester, Portsmouth and Berlin united to deliver three weeks of public art, creativity, online content, and exceptional cultural experiences. The focus was on bridging the gap between private and intimate conversations about mental health and the public sphere, accomplished through public art displays, billboards, and digital advertisements.
